I have been asked by the General Service Board to share this video presentation on “The Big Book: Researching Issues, Possible Tools and Access” with district chairs in our area. The original presentation was given to members of the Literature Committee at the 2020 General Service Conference, and they asked that it be shared more widely, requesting discussion and feedback from A.A. members to help inform this year’s Conference discussions.
The link allows you to download or stream the video in English or Spanish.
Please be mindful that this should not be posted on publicly-accessible websites or social media, as it is intended to provide information for AA members only to have this discussion.
Ideally, if time in your February or March agenda permits, you could watch the 21-minute video in your district or sub-district meetings, or at a district workshop. There are questions at the end of the video (and below) to help solicit useful feedback and spark discussion. Please feel free to ask any visiting area officer for help. And of course, GSRs could take this to their groups.
We will set aside some time at our Pre-Conference Assembly in April for members to share on this topic. And you are also encouraged to send any feedback from your individual sharing sessions to me directly so that I may pass it along for sharing at the Conference.
Here is the slide show presentation ( PLEASE WATCH)

And here are the questions:
Should the Trustees’ Literature Committee explore possible solutions that could help make our message more available?
If so, what additional information would be helpful to determine if additional items are needed to increase accessibility and relatability to the A.A. program?
Would a translation into modern or simple language help?
What tools would help others understand our program of recovery? Workbooks? Dictionaries?
